On a day when many hide behind masks and costumes, a man famously and courageously took a public stand. On October 31st, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle church. His conscience did not allow him to continue to hide behind the accepted religion of the day but forced him to boldly declare what he believed. His belief was that Salvation was attained by faith alone, and that the Word of God was superior to tradition. Martin Luther stood while many others hid.
Though I am an ardent Baptist that proclaims our amazing Baptist heritage, I can appreciate and be challenged by the bold stances that good men have taken throughout history. In our day that calls for believers to stand boldly, are we willing to live counterculture to our world around us? Will we hide behind the proverbial masks that are so common on this day, or will we stand? Our Baptist forefathers stood! Martin Luther stood! Let us stand by proclaiming to our world that it is Christ alone that can save, and that the Word of God alone is truth.
Timothy Ministries was honored to spend this Sunday morning with our brothers and sisters at Faith Baptist Church in Warren, Michigan. Faith Baptist is the sending church for Timothy Ministries.
We were blessed to hear a powerful message from missionary Garth Piper. The Pipers are missionaries to New Zealand where God is moving in powerful ways. Whether it be in the Americas, New Zealand, or any other nation & continent, "there are souls to rescue and souls to save."
Let us strive together to share the truth of His word with all corners of the world, and for the labourers to be plentiful.
Timothy Ministries had the opportunity this past Sunday night to present to Calvary Baptist Church in Gaines, Michigan. It was our first opportunity to present Timothy Ministries in front of church members other than Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Thank you to Pastor Canaday for allowing us this time of teaching and fellowship. May God continue to bless the importance emphasis that you place on missions.
The goal of TM is to reproduce Paul’s model of church planting that we see illustrated for us all throughout the book of Acts, 1 & 2 Timothy and Titus. Paul effectively planted churches because he combined training men and planting churches at the same time. He gathered to himself a team of men, trained them, and then left them to pastor/oversee the churches that were planted. Paul then reproduced that model over and over again. After he planted and trained, Paul would follow-up with the churches and his team members through visits and letters. His training and on-going care gave strength and depth to the churches he planted and the men he trained.
The chart below shows Paul’s method demonstrated in a modern-day model. The church planter, following in Paul’s footsteps, raises up a team of men to train. As the planter trains the first team members, he works with them on planting the first church. Once that first church is planted and the first pastor is trained, the planter moves on to start a new church plant while adding on to the team to train. The ultimate goal is to see “Timothy’s” trained not only to pastor the church plant, but to also train other Timothy’s to plant churches, perpetuating the model.
Maybe the Lord is calling you to be a Timothy? You can be trained to be an effective pastor for a church plant!
Timothy Ministries uses a Pauline style of church planting to be able to accomplish multiple church plants in a short, yet efficient, amount of time.
1) To plant seven churches in twelve years.
2) To train men to take over and pastor the church plant to maturity.
3) To plant churches with a heart to plant churches.
4) To establish more church planters... multiplying church plants.
